Vascular and Pigmented Lesions

Treatment of Pigmentations and Vascular Lesions

Vascular Lesions are overgrown, enlarged blood vessels that can be treated using laser therapy to reduce their appearance and return the skin to its ‘normal’ state.

Vascular Lesions include port wine stains, birth marks, haemangioma, Venous Lake and Spider Nevi, all of which can be distressing to those who suffer from them.

At Total Body Care we use a state of the art Nd:YAG laser to effectively treat vascular conditions, using long wavelengths that penetrate deeply into the tissue, heating large vessels to remove the problem.

How Does Vascular Lesions Treatment with the Nd:YAG Laser Work?

Using a laser, homogenous heating works to trigger coagulation of the targeted blood vessels, without damaging the surrounding tissue. The enlarged blood vessels are broken down using the laser, thus reducing the vascular lesion. Typically the lesion will go darker initially, and continue to be broken down and reduce in appearance over the following month.

The Results

Through treatment using the Nd:YAG laser, Vascular Lesions can be broken down, and after several treatments completely removed, leaving the skin looking ‘normal’ once again.

Our Recommendations

After the Treatment

As the treatment is non-invasive most patients find they need little, or no down-time after treatment, but some may find the use of an ice pack helpful to reduce any redness. The use of a topical antibiotic cream or ointment may also be necessary, and no harsh soaps or moisturisers should be used on the area for a few days after treatment. Our Physician and Therapists can advise on steps you might need to take post treatment.

Rosacea Treatment

At Total Body Care we offer effective laser based treatment of Rosacea, which can help to reduce redness and improve the appearance of the skin.

Those who suffer from Rosacea experience flushing, redness to the skin, as well as spots and noticeable blood vessels, which are usually worse on the cheeks and the nose. Some people with Rosacea will have all these symptoms, and some may just experience one or two, with the condition being more severe in some more than others.

Rosacea currently affects around 1 in 10 people over the age of 30, and so if you suffer from the above symptoms, you’re not alone. At Total Body Care we can treat Rosacea, working to reduce the symptoms and improve the appearance of the skin

You may find your Rosacea comes and goes, often months will pass without symptoms, and other times your symptoms may be more severe.

Those who suffer from this condition can often feel very self-conscious, and whilst Rosacea is more common in women, the symptoms are often more severe in men.

At Total Body Cate we use the latest line of 1064nm lasers to reduce the symptoms of Rosacea, leaving the sufferer feeling better and more confident about their appearance.

How Does Rosacea Specialist Laser Treatment Work?

Using a gold standard treatment, the 1064nm laser works in two ways to improve Rosacea. Firstly it targets the tiny blood cells just under the skin, working to enable the walls of the veins that cause the redness to collapse. It also targets the pores in a similar way to laser treatment for acne, working to destroy any bacteria which might be causing spots and blemishes in the skin.

The combination of these two effects works to reduce the appearance of the multiple symptoms of Rosacea, working to help with redness, blemishes and visible blood vessels.

Treatment with our 1064nm laser is not particularly painful, and most patients just feel a little discomfort and those who have experienced the process often describe the feeling as being similar to the snap of an elastic band against the skin.

Laser treatment is a great way to manage Rosacea and reduce your symptoms, and you can also work toward minimising your Rosacea by understanding what triggers it to avoid flare-ups. With both treatment and better knowledge it is possible to feel confident in your own skin and control your Rosacea.

The Results

Through treatment using our advanced 1064nm laser, at Total Body Care we are able to reduce several of the symptoms that you may suffer from, including reducing redness and visible veins that sit close to the skin. The results are almost always instant and post-treatment symptoms should be reduced.

Our Recommendations

Depending on the severity of your condition you may need to return for two or more further treatments for optimum results.

After your treatment there are several things you should avoid:

  • No saunas, steam rooms, sun beds, swimming or very hot showers 48 hours after treatment
  • No make-up application for 24 hours post treatment

We advise that you use an SPF of 25+ a month after treatment, and aloe vera gel can be applied to the skin post treatment to soothe the skin.
